What is counselling?

A relationship of trust.

Counselling is a process that occurs when a client and a Counsellor set aside time in order to explore difficulties or issues the client is experiencing.

Using evidence based therapy models, the counsellor will guide the client to see things more clearly, or possibly from a different view-point.

This can enable the client to focus on their feelings, experiences or behaviour, with a goal to facilitating change.

Trust and Confidentiality

In order for the counselling experience to be successful a relationship of trust and openness must exist between the client and the counsellor.

This we build together over the first few sessions.

Confidentiality is paramount to successful therapy. The counsellor’s room is a safe space where you will learn to ask yourself candid questions and search for honest and authentic answers.

“Sarah saves marriages. Truly. I'm not sure whether we would have made it or not. We are stronger than ever now and have been able to use all the amazing strategies to ensure our marriage is better than ever. Sarah gives such great, practical advice in an empathetic and caring fashion. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone”

AD and AK, Victoria

“Sarah was my very first counsellor, and from the first session with her over two years ago I felt completely at ease. Sarah is completely genuine, with a warm personality. Her capacity to listen, analyse without judgement, and provide the most practical of insights has been a huge help for me to understand myself, heal and become a happier and more responsible person. I truly believe that the key to a successful counselling relationship is trust and I highly recommend Sarah.”

BB, 35 years old, Hong Kong

"Sarah was an excellent listener and questioner and really helped my husband and I explore various issues in preparation for becoming parents for the first time in a safe and productive environment, giving us practical strategies to try at home. We would both highly recommend her!"

RH and MM, Hong Kong

“Thank you Sarah! She helps me face up to work place challenges and devise practical strategies to better manage my career and office relationships. With Sarah I have seen the importance of rebalancing the priorities of work, leisure and family. I see more clearly, think more clearly, am calmer, and make so many better decisions. My partner, daughter and colleagues are thoroughly enjoying the benefits!"

What Next?

A preliminary conversation would cover:

The problems or challenges that you're hoping to explore (the reason for contacting me)

Your availability (date and time)
Fees (including cancellation and no-show policy)
The prospective length of the counselling process

You've already taken the first the step. You think that opening up and talking about what's worrying you could be helpful. You've asked yourself whether the Counselling process is for you, but naturally you hesitate before moving on to the next step.

Hopefully, you now have an understanding of the way in which I work, and how we could work together to confront the problems and obstacles that you face.

If you're ready to move towards change, acceptance and growth, please contact me.
